Dr. Gina Wintermantel
Gina graduated from the University of Illinois in 1992. She practiced small animal medicine for 25 years in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Gina, Steve and their four children moved to Torit, South Sudan in 2018 to serve in long-term missions. They partnered with South Sudanese and Kenyan pastors to start a missionary training school in Torit. The training program combines discipleship with practical instruction in improved agricultural techniques and animal husbandry. Over 50 students have graduated, and some are now serving in unreached villages in South Sudan. In 2023, Steve unexpectedly passed away while in East Africa. Despite this loss, the missionary training school continues. Gina returned to the U.S. in 2025 and is now serving as a mobilizer for CVM. She enjoys walking with and encouraging veterinary professionals who are seeking to serve in long-term mission.
