Dr. Kit Flowers

Dr. Flowers has served as CVM’s Executive Director since 1994 and joins a terrific team of staff and volunteers in serving the vision and mission of CVM. Together they seek to join God in the work He is calling us to do. The CVM team partners in this work and calling with a terrific Board of Directors. Kit serves in these efforts with his wife, Jan.

Dr. Frye provides leadership and direction for the International Program Team of CVM. This team recruits, trains and supports CVM full-time international staff and short-term volunteers. He has primary responsibility for oversight of the CVM long-term and short-term ministries in the Americas and Asia.

God blessed Fred and Vicki with 25 years of veterinary development, church planting and mission leadership in Ethiopia. Now with wider focus, Fred is part of a team to mobilize, train, send and mentor long- and short-term veterinary missionaries, especially in Africa. He loves to share what God is doing and to challenge people to pray, go or partner in the Great Commission.

Dr. Karen Stoufer

Karen Stoufer, DVM, has served with CVM for over 30 years.  Most recently she was the Director of Training and the Asia Area Director based in Seattle.  Prior to this, she and her family served as CVM missionaries in Nepal where they focused on animal health training, women’s empowerment, and community development.  Dr. Stoufer practiced veterinary medicine (small animal) in New York and California before joining CVM.  Karen received her DVM from Cornell University and has a master’s degree in Christian Leadership from Azusa Pacific University.  She and her husband Ron have five daughters, two American-born daughters raised in Asia and three Nepali/Bhutanese refugee foster daughters born in Asia and raised in American.  Currently they reside in Pennsylvania to be near their grandchildren.

Krista manages the CVM Marketing & Fundraising Initiatives as well as the CVM-hosted events, which include Real Life Real Impact and the upcoming faith-based CVM Veterinary Conference in 2021. She also serves a local church in Seattle with her husband, Derek, who serves as the senior pastor. She has 4 children and 1 grandbaby.

Lauren is an Auburn grad, class of 2005. She lived and served with CVM in Bolivia for three years. There she quickly went from being single to having a family of four, including her handsome husband, Jon, beautiful Bolivian daughter, Angie, and their Bolivian Labrador, Ruby. Her growing family brought her back to the U.S., where she's currently based out of Louisville, KY. She's added two sons and a daughter to their family and she's serving as CVM's U.S. Ministry Director and also oversees the Southeast region as representative.

Curtiss Gibbs joined CVM full-time after 12 years of pastoral ministry in the local church, mostly focused on youth, college students, and missions. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and is finishing his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Curtiss loves connecting people to their calling and working to see individuals and groups thrive as they serve God. He and his wife, Shannon, have been married since 2003 and love to spend time outdoors and in the company of family and friends.

Elizabeth is a 2005 graduate of the Univ. of Tennessee College of Vet Med. She spent the first 9 years of her career in a busy small animal emergency and general practice in Upland, CA. Elizabeth will manage the following states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois. She will also serve the following schools: University of Nebraska- Lincoln, Kansas State, Univ of Minnesota, Iowa State, Univ of Missouri, Univ of Wisconsin and Univ of Illinois.

With a background in international community development, communication and fundraising, Lauren’s desire is to help equip and empower short-term volunteers for holistic, responsible, and effective service overseas. Her primary focus with CVM will be providing opportunities and educating volunteers about short-term missions, both domestic and international.

Alex joined CVM in 2015 for a short-term project with CVM’s books and she has been here since! She works with CVM’s eLearning team, published books, and training materials. Alex has a background in science and a Masters in Business with a focus on Social Sustainability. She is excited for what God is doing through the work of CVM and is looking forward to what is yet to come!

Dr. Barry Schwenk began his relationship with CVM as a student at Kansas State University in 1995. He was challenged in ways that have forever changed his life. After practicing in the U.S. for 7 years, he served with his wife, Colette, and three children (Emily, Jonas and Simon) as CVM long-term fieldworkers in Ethiopia for 6 years and as the CVM Southwest Region Representative for 4 years. Barry now serves part-time with CVM by coordinating eLearning modules geared towards veterinary professionals.

Vicki served as a CVM field staff member in Ethiopia from 1986 to 2008, at which time the Van Gorkoms moved back to the U.S. She has been working in the CVM home office as Coordinator of Donor Services since that time.

Dr. Debbie Hoffele is currently serving as Executive Director of CVM Canada. In the past, she has served as a short-term mission’s participant and leader, CVM region rep in Canada and on the CVM Canada advisory board. Debbie has a passion for student ministry, professional outreach and encouraging those interested in missions to find their calling. She lives in Fonthill, Ontario with husband, Stephen, and sons, Zachary and Jacob.

Dr. Rocky Lindsey

Dr. Rocky Lindsey (LSU ’98) and his wife, Alicia, live in southeast Arkansas. They have two teenage sons, Isaac and Jonah. Dr. Lindsey owned and operated two busy small animal practices until 2015. Even though the practices weren’t for sale, the Lord led the Lindsey’s to sell their businesses, then led Dr. Lindsey to teach at a local university. Recently, Dr. Lindsey has assumed the role of South Central Region Representative for CVM, replacing Glenn Gaines who is having to step back from the role due to family health reasons. The Lindsey’s are excited to join the CVM team and look forward to getting to know the vets and vet students in this region.

Dr. Nancy Moore
West Region Representative

Nancy is a Nebraska native. Scholastic blessings led her to the University of Florida for vet school, graduating in 1995. Small animal private practice and a love for the Lord propelled her into short-term missionary work with CVM’s Native American Reservations and Urban Outreach. In obedience to the Lord, she completed a Master Degree in Ministerial Leadership at Southeastern University in 2020. Nancy and Carnell have five precious children: Ebriana, Jordan, Logan, Damian and Reagan. While Nancy continues with CVM as a short-term missionary, she also serves with CVM as the U.S. West Region Representative. She connects and ministers to veterinarians, professors, vet students, technicians, donors and prayer partners encouraging them to fix their eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

Christopher Chan

Chris, originally from Malaysia, came to the USA in the 1980s to pursue his Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees in Accounting and Taxation. Chris and his wife Eda spent the next 20 years pastoring a church primarily for International Students. Chris was still practicing his accounting and taxation work on a part time basis, specializing in non-profits. Chris also served as the International Ministry Director for his denomination, leading him to travel extensively to Africa, Pakistan, India and Indonesia, along with directing a few short-term mission trips to Indonesia. As a result of his international travels, he developed a deep passion for Christian mission work. Chris is a Certified Public Accountant with the State of Washington and California.
