Dr. Heather Heisey

Who I Am
Dr. Heather Heisey has worked throughout her career with a variety of experience in small animal general practice. She has also taught as an Adjunct Instructor in a veterinary technician program. Heather was first introduced to Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM) in veterinary school. Her first short-term trip was to Nepal in 1992, while still a student. She served short-term with CVM in Mongolia in 2006, where she grew to love Mongolia and its people and felt a call to return for long-term service. She was sent by CVM to serve with her family in Mongolia from 2008-2013. After returning to the US, she continued to serve with CVM as the Northeast Region Representative until 2015. Since then, she continued to volunteer in her free time helping with the Distance Learning Master's degree program for Mongolian veterinarians that she helped to establish while living in Mongolia. Recently, Heather has sensed God calling her to return to long-term service in Mongolia. During a short-term trip to serve in Mongolia with V.E.T. Net last fall, she was asked to consider returning to serve in person with the team at V.E.T. Net. She has chosen to follow God's call on her life and take steps towards return to service with CVM and V.E.T. Net in Mongolia.
My Work
Heather will be serving with V.E.T. Net in Mongolia. Her work will focus on sharing the love of Christ through veterinary medicine and training with a small animal emphasis. This will include travel with small animal teams to train veterinarians in remote areas in small animal practice, assisting as an advisor in the Enerekh Small Animal Clinic and Training Center, helping with the veterinary internship program in small animal medicine, helping to provide the Distance Master's Program for veterinarians, assisting in development of the small animal continuing education program, and other teaching for V.E.T. Net staff, students, and interns. Heather will also help to organize and host short-term volunteers who travel to Mongolia to serve at V.E.T. Net. Her hope is to continue to develop lasting relationships, to share the Good News with those who have not heard, and to disciple and encourage fellow believers in their faith and ministry. The Lord has shown her that He is the provider of a hope and a future for those that trust in Him. Through her service, her desire is to see others find that hope and future through Him for themselves.
My Partner
CVM partners with Mongolia V.E.T. Net, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that focuses on sharing Christ throughout Mongolia through veterinary medicine and education. V.E.T. Net veterinarians, teachers, and other faithful support staff continue to focus on their goal of reaching the entire nation of Mongolia with the message of Christ. Heather will support this work alongside other CVM workers: the Mitchums, the Minchers, the Ballengers, the Days, and Lenore Thorne.
