Dr. John Kruckeberg Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of the late Dr. John Kruckeberg who poured his life into Native American communities nationwide, helping to improve animal health care and share the love of God. This scholarship aims to continue his legacy by providing financial assistance to Native American students who are attending or will attend vet school and have expressed an interest in veterinary health care and/or bible training and leadership. These students must have a working relationship with a CVM STM team and be nominated by a CVM STM trip leader. Scholarship funds will be distributed based on availability and need. This Special Project account will allow friends/coworkers of Dr. Kruckeberg to donate additional funds to sustain this project and promote the love of God and vet work among Native American students.
Background
Dr John Kruckeberg was from Williamsport, TN and was blessed to be supported by his wife Dr. Linda Kruckeberg and their children. John started serving as a volunteer with CVM in 1974. In 1976 he made his first trip to the Navajo Nation, igniting a passion for Native American ministry that led him to complete over 50 mission trips with CVM: 14 trips serving the Navajo, 7 Lakota-Sioux, 7 Cherokee, plus work on the Hopi, Apache, Shoshone, Blackfeet, Choctaw, and Pima reservations. Hundreds of volunteers traveled with John, learning about Native American cultures and catching his passion to serve others. As John said, “Animals- especially pets- play a critical role in our relationships, especially with many of the Native Americans. God sent them for this reason. It is not just about production and food, but relationship.”
