Drs. Richard and Celia Thompson
Celia and Richard met and were married while attending Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation in 1978 and 1979 they worked as employed veterinarians in mixed animal practices for two years. Then, in 1981 they opened their own small animal practice, Tavares Animal Hospital, near Orlando, FL. They worked together in this practice for 34 years, attempting always to bring glory to God through their Christian witness. After retiring in 2015, Richard and Celia sold their practice to an associate and now reside in Dothan, AL.
They were active in CVF while students and have stayed connected with CVM over the years through conference breakfast programs and more recently by speaking at RLRI and CVF groups around the southeast. They’ve taken multiple CVM mission trips. Because of a love for veterinary medicine and The Lord, Celia and Richard enjoy any opportunity to encourage veterinary students in their faith.
