USA - F.A.R.M. Training

Are you a small animal veterinarian, technician, or student, who would like to go on a mission trip but feel a bit rusty in your large animal and ministry skills? Do you have a colleague who fits this description? This training will include topics covering safe handling, restraint, vaccinating, de-worming, and basic animal husbandry of poultry, horses, goats, swine, and cattle. These are animals often encountered in rural areas on short-term mission trips.

The course also incorporates cross-cultural training, how to share your faith, and how to write your testimony. Also covered is how to design and teach animal health care courses in developing countries. The trainings go from Thursday afternoon until Sunday morning. They are held on a farm in Catawba, Virginia (30 minutes from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and 30 minutes from the Roanoke, Virginia airport).

We welcome people with all levels of animal experience and mission work. Everyone will have something unique to contribute to the group. There will be opportunities for you to help with aspects of the training in which you might have a greater amount of experience than others. Considering this, we welcome and encourage spouses to attend, regardless of their animal health care background. Expect a wonderful few days of learning, growing, and developing a special new group of friends!
