Trip Leaders: Bailey Boss-Fowler (VT), and Emma Stalnaker (VT)

Trip Host:
David and Abby Kakeeto with Transformed for Life (www.transformedforlifeuganda.com)

Dates: June 29 - July 5, 2025

Vet Work: CVM will treat the animals of and train (Christian) leaders currently caring for animals in their homes about proper animal husbandry and treatment techniques. These model farmers will be from several different village communities that TFL has partnered with over the years. CVM will also help to treat and assess the livestock that TFL is caring for (cows, pigs, donkeys, chickens and rabbits). TFL animal project managers and key point staff members will also be trained on proper animal husbandry techniques.

Ministry Work: Transformed for Life is a Christian NGO with Christ is at the heart of all that they do. Therefore any assistance that is given to the community through treatment and trainings of their animals will be just another way that we are witnessing to the community as they know that they are loved because Christ's love is demonstrated in a tangible way.

There will also be a one-day training for 600 members of the community that will include a Bible study, prayer, and counseling (for those who seek it as offered by local pastors from healthy local churches), as well as an animal husbandry training conducted by CVM team members. The community will also be directed to the “model farmers” who were trained by the CVM team prior to the conference.

Number Needed: A minimum of 2-3 DVMs, Vet Techs, or Vet Students. No maximum. Non-veterinary spouses are allowed as they can partner with evangelism, maintenance, kid’s ministry, medical/dental clinics, or any of the other activities that occur during the week-long trip. Children are also allowed! TFL has spent several years serving and living in the community and have a wonderful relationship with it. Children would be safe and in a controlled environment.

Cost: $1,120 (not including airfare) Additionally, you will need to purchase a visa before traveling ($100). All vet and pre-vet students will receive a $400 scholarship toward your trip costs if you are involved in your local CVF. Volunteers age 70+ will need to purchase their own insurance outside of CVM. For this reason, these volunteers will see a slight decrease in the CVM trip cost.

If the team is interested, a trip to Kibaale National Park can be done to conduct chimpanzee trekking as well as a night jungle hike to see unique nocturnal wildlife.
