Vet Work: You will be going into local communities to offer vet services such as deworming, vaccinations (goats, poultry, dogs, cattle, pigs), and some spays and neuters. You will also provide some basic treatments. Besides this, you will help give livestock training (caregivers’ training) to the farmers focusing on animal health. Finally, you will attend the National VetNet Conference along with national veterinarians.
Ministry Work: You will help to mentor the local vets and staff of Vetnet as well as the local workers. You will show hope and love through your actions and relationships with each other and how you engage with the people you come in contact with. You will be mentoring the youth and spending informal time with the local community. You will visit the rural mission hospital.
Needed: Vets, Vet Techs, and Vet Students are needed! 3-5 Veterinarians, 2-3 Veterinary students; 5-7 team members are needed in total. The trip is open to DVMs, students, technicians and other resource team members (family). No children are allowed.
Cost: $1,380 (international airfare not included); All veterinary students are eligible for a 50% scholarship toward your trip costs and airfare. Volunteers age 70+ will need to purchase their own insurance outside of CVM. For this reason, these volunteers will see a slight decrease in the CVM trip cost.
Additional Information: The team will be working in several slums among the mixed communities as well as around many underprivileged communities with extensive poverty. Simple room accommodation will be provided. Local sightseeing will be organized during the trip. Separately sightseeing trips can be organized separately if anyone wants to extend your stay in the country.
