Vet Work: The veterinary team will support village veterinary camps primarily focused on large animals such as cows, goats, and buffaloes, while occasionally providing care for small animals including dogs and cats. These camps will be conducted in villages where local congregations are already established, and all services rendered will form part of the church’s community outreach efforts.
Ministry Work: The team will participate in worship services in the rural churches, visit other outreach projects of IGL when visiting the rural areas helping with water well dedications or life center dedications as the need may arise.
Needed: A combination of Veterinarians, Vet Techs, and Vet Students; Other resource team members (family) are allowed. 3-5 Veterinarians, 2-3 Veterinary students; 4-6 team members are needed in total.
Cost: $1,190 (international airfare not included); All veterinary students are eligible for a 50% scholarship toward your trip costs and airfare. Volunteers age 70+ will need to purchase their own insurance outside of CVM. For this reason, these volunteers will see a slight decrease in the CVM trip cost.
Additional Information: Given the current socio-political sensitivities in India, you will arrive through major metropolitan gateways such as Delhi or Mumbai before connecting to a regional airport for onward travel to Salem. The India Gospel League (IGL) will be pleased to coordinate domestic flights, in-country transportation, and accommodation to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey.

In addition to delivering veterinary care, the team will equip community-level workers and volunteers through practical training in animal health and basic care. Many of these workers are women who play a vital role in community transformation; they will assist the team during the camps while also strengthening their own skills and confidence in supporting livestock-dependent households.
The India Gospel League (IGL) operates Sharon Community College in Salem, Tamil Nadu, South India. As part of our commitment to sustainable rural development, the college plans to offer a Community-Based Animal Health Workers (CBAHW) course. Visiting teams will contribute to this initiative by teaching and mentoring students enrolled in the program, helping to build a trained cadre of grassroots animal health workers capable of serving their communities effectively.Ministry Work: The team will participate in worship services in the rural churches, visit other outreach projects of IGL when visiting the rural areas helping with water well dedications or life center dedications as the need may arise.
