Mongolia (Large Animal)
DVMs, vet techs, and 3rd or 4th year vet students with large animal skills are needed to serve with V.E.T. Net in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia! Come serve through veterinary remote countryside trips, and/or through Mongolia veterinary intern training. We need your help to support and mentor the national veterinarians, interns, and herders who are seeking to improve their knowledge and skills.
The type of work is primarily veterinary and herder training, and some equine, ruminant, and dairy work, as well as Bible studies and discipleship. You will serve alongside Mongolian veterinarians (you will always be paired with Mongolian English speakers to help with translations).
Countryside trips last for a minimum of 2 weeks, possibly 3 weeks, if traveling to very remote locations. Intern training trips can be 2 weeks or longer. Dates are often flexible- please contact us if you have a time you'd like to serve!
Local Partner: V.E.T. Net is a national NGO that has come from the work of Christian Veterinary Mission in Mongolia. It is a network of veterinarians, educators, and training professionals throughout Mongolia to bring genuine change to the rural, urban, and university population of Mongolia through the love and message of Jesus Christ.
Vet Work: Equine, ruminant, dairy; veterinary/herder training. A short-term worker's primary function would be to help support/mentor the V.E.T. Net national veterinarians, who are seeking to improve their knowledge and skills in veterinary practice, so that they can then train other veterinarians in the country.
Ministry Work: Encourage and witness to Mongolian veterinarians. We seek to accomplish this through relationship building, Bible training, and devotionals. We believe equipping and encouraging local believers is the best way to reach Mongolia for Christ.
Number Needed: Individual male or female DVMs or technicians; occasionally, 3rd - 4th year vet students can participate in these trips as well.
Cost Additional Information: Because dates are flexible, the cost varies based on the number of days in-country. (Cost does not include airfare to and from Ulaanbaatar). Since costs are dependent on a number of factors, we will provide you with the exact cost of a full trip once we are able to talk with you. Volunteers age 70+ will need to purchase their own insurance outside of CVM. For this reason, these volunteers will see a slight decrease in the CVM trip cost.
