Dominican Republic

Join our team going to volunteer in the Dominican Republic! Working with Breath of Life International in Neiba, DR, team will be going into the local nearby communities offering animal vet services. Bring your expertise and desire to mentor students as well as to pray and share with community members in the DR!

We are needing two DVMs to volunteer for trip! These vets will need to work with large animals, sheep, and goats. If you are interested, please click "Express Interest" for more information!

Dates: June 10-19, 2026

Local Partner: Breath of Life International

Trip Leader: Jose Martinez

Vet Work: Large animal medicine and nutrition education with basic animal husbandry consultation at farm visits and during organized producer meetings. You will work mainly on dairy cows, sheep, goats, and a few other animals thrown in. This will be around small farms, hand milking, etc. with nothing being too high tech. You will likely conduct alot of preg checking since the Dominicans do not have access to veterinary services. You will also lead very basic mastitis and calf-rearing trainings. It is possible that we will not treat a lot of animals, but we will try to do more education and training. This is not a vaccination and deworming clinic like some trips. Sometimes, we will have an evening session with the farmers to talk about issues we have seen during our visits, or they can ask questions about topics of interest. We do occasionally treat a few animals, but treatment isn’t the primary purpose.

Ministry Work: Our primary work will consist of empowering the local church to have a vibrant witness through serving the community through medical training, evangelism training (reflective tape outreach to motorcycles), discipleship-making training, children outreach training, home visits, and leadership training. We will work with the community producer farming and cattle associations to train them on veterinarian care, mental, and emotional health. We will also work with the community to repair vulnerable families' homes at risk.

Number Needed: 2 DVMs

Event Cost: $2,740 (does include airfare)

Additional Info: We will be joining forces with Breath of Life International college students and mentors and working alongside the local church in Neiba, Dominican Republic. We will stay in local housing and be a part of the community while there. A time for debriefing on the final day of the trip will be enjoyed at a beautiful beach. More info about Breath of Life and the trip can be foundhttps://breathoflife.servicereef.com/events/breath-of-life-international-2/mission-trip-to-neiba-dr-july-2026

Each volunteer will need to bring an additional $30 in cash for the visa. Any souvenir cost is not included. The team will work together to raise funds for ministry expenses and materials we will bring with us to carry out the work.
