Meet Shane Rootes

Shane Rootes serves as the CEO of Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM), bringing more than 25 years of global leadership experience across nonprofit, humanitarian, and faith-based organizations. His work has taken him into war zones, post-crisis regions, underserved communities, and high-capacity systems, navigating complex and growth-driven environments. Whether in rural Ecuador, Romania, Ethiopia, Haiti, or other parts of the global South, and across boardrooms in the U.S. and Europe, Shane’s calling has consistently centered on aligning mission with movement, strengthening culture, and helping teams flourish.

With executive roles spanning healthcare, education, development, and global missions, Shane specializes in leading through transition, embedding operational resilience, and building trust across cultures. His leadership philosophy is grounded in presence, humility, and courageous collaboration, believing that strategy without people at the center is simply noise. He holds various degrees focused on change management, human resources, and organizational design, as well as certifications in project management, agile frameworks, and transformational change.

Yet for Shane, titles and credentials are not the story; faithfulness is. His leadership begins by listening, learning, and seeking to understand what matters most. His first commitment at CVM is to honor the story already being written, while gently stewarding it into its next chapter of global impact. He counts it a sacred responsibility to lead a mission so deeply rooted in Christ’s love, vocational calling, and practical service.

Shane is married to Miriam, and they have four children together. Their family life has been shaped by seasons of joy and surrender, of service and deep trust in God’s provision. They are based on the East Coast and are active in their local church and community. Shane is a committed advocate for holistic mission and has served in creative ministries, church planting, and leadership development in over 30+ countries.
