Dr. Lena & Patrick Wensel

Who We Are

Patrick and Lena Wensel are from Bel Air, Maryland where Patrick worked as a software engineer and Lena as a small animal practitioner. Lena earned her BS in Animal Science from Cornell University and her DVM from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Lena first connected with CVM on short-term mission trips to Kenya and Mongolia, realizing the unique outreach opportunities that veterinary medicine offered. After much prayer, God confirmed Patrick and Lena’s willingness to join CVM long-term while in Costa Rica during the summer of 2013. The Wensels are now serving Christ in Tanzania.

Our Work

In Tanzania, Lena’s focus is on training local animal health care workers to provide a form of outreach to help pastors open relational doors for bringing the gospel into unreached communities. Patrick continues to faithfully support Lena’s projects while further adding his well-rounded skill set in various ministry needs such as community water and education projects. Patrick is also developing a plastics recycling project with the goal of creating a future creative access ministry. Together, Patrick and Lena’s goal is to share Christ’s love in a holistic manner, serving the spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs of Unreached People Groups in Tanzania.
