Dr. Sara & Jason Phipps

Who We Are

Jason and Sara Phipps serve with Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM) in Bolivia. Sara was first involved with CVM as a a student at the University of Tennessee and has gone on several short-term trips with CVM through the years to several countries.  Sara has been a small animal veterinarian since graduating in 1997 and had wanted to serve on the field long-term since vet school. In God's timing and with the partnership of her husband, they have now embarked on this calling on their life. Jason and Sara have a large blended family of 6 children, (Mat, Isaac, Rachel, Sean, Jake, and Ella), a daughter-in-law (Chalice), 1 grandson (Theo), and 1 grand-dog (Otter). They are all grown and in various stages of leaving or having left the nest. Sara loves teaching and wants to share Christ's love through relationships using veterinary medicine. Jason is a carpenter and does home remodel and repair and is just an all over fantastic handy-man. He wants to use his skills to also serve Christ and share the gospel with is own unique ministry while in Bolivia.

Our Work

Sara serves at the University in Santa Cruz and Trinidad through an organization called VetRed.  VetRed's mission is to challenge, empower, and facilitate Latin American veterinarians and students to serve other through veterinary medicine, living out their Christian faith. Sara is involved in student ministry which includes leading Bible studies, mentoring, and discipling young people as they walk with the Lord. She is also teaching both veterinary medicine and English as well as hosting short-term trips. 

Jason is working with a local orphanage called Talita Cumi where he serves at the maintenance man and mentors the young boys. He also serves on the board of their local church in Bolivia where he also does maintenance, teaches English, and leads various programs. Jason also plays an important role a the university where Sara works and helps with many of the programs of VetRed.

The Phipps are partnered with VetRed at Gabriel Rene Moreno Autonomous University (UAGRM) in Santa Cruz Bolivia and with Talita Cumi children's home.
