Dr. Patricia Lyon
Who I Am
Patricia Lyon has been serving in Rwanda since 2026. Previously she served in Haiti from 2021 to 2026. Patricia has had a heart for missions since she was a young child. She is a graduate of WSU College of Veterinary Medicine and has a MEd in School Counseling from Seattle Pacific University. Patricia has worked in a variety of clinic settings in Pennsylvania and Washington State. Since 1998, Patricia has served on over twenty short term mission trips to over fifteen countries in Central and South America, Africa, and Asia; including Haiti, the Navajo, and Rwanda.
My Work
Patricia has felt a long term desire to serve in ministry to wherever the Lord would send her. Since becoming a veterinarian, she has felt a specific calling through her vocation to serve, and CVM provides the support to serve using her skills in veterinary medicine as well as using the many skills acquired in a life of service and adventure. She is excited to be able to use her many skills, including veterinary medicine, to serve the Rwandans including assisting in
- providing services to local farmers including livestock programs with various food animals
- training local veterinary technicians
- Working with local churches to provide counseling, Bible studies, and livestock training programs
My Partner
The ERM (Equipping Restoring and Multiplying) ministry was set-up after the genocide in Rwanda when the founder, Emmanuel Sitaki, returned home from university in the Republic of Congo and realized that many children didn’t have food, a place to live, or a way to receive an education. Over the years, the program continued to grow and develop and, in 2008, Hope Vocational Training Center was established. Now call Rwanda Rise Vocational Training Center, the Center is a government accredited program that offers certificates in hairdressing, sewing/tailoring, culinary arts, construction, and welding. Students in the program are sponsored as they complete their program and part of their support comes in the form of livestock that are distributed to the students for ongoing training and income-generation. The ministry also has other programs to serve the people of Rwanda.
