Dr. Julie & Steve Henderson
Who We Are
Steve and Julie are from Longview, Texas. Steve grew up on a ranch in Oklahoma and is a machinist by trade as well as a lifetime student of the Bible. Julie had an equine specialty practice before they joined CVM in 2009 as long-term field staff serving in Africa. In 2015, Steve and Julie completed their term of international service and now reside in Texas while continuing to be active in ministry in their field of service with annual visits.
Our Work
Steve and Julie worked within a tribe that is considered an unreached people group. They helped to plant an indigenous church within that group during their time as long-term fieldworkers with CVM. Since their return to the USA Julie and Steve continue to mentor, pray with and counsel the church. They seek to strengthen and mature the existing church as well as equipping them to plant new churches through the ministries of the church. The church reaches out to their community and beyond by helping marginalized children stay in school and learn about Jesus, teaching women how to use plant medicines, teaching sustainable methods of farming from a Christian worldview, and evangelism outreaches to near and distant villages.
Many people where Julie and Steve serve have never heard the Gospel, and because of religious oppression in the past, they don't trust "religious" people. Please pray for open doors and continued growth of a church planting movement within this traditionally Muslim tribe.Water Wells
The people who live in our large village suffer periodic outbreaks Cholera and other disease due to lack of access to clean water. This year the Cholera outbreak was especially severe. We put a deep borehole on our side of the village in 2014 and would like to put two more boreholes in other parts of the village. People have to walk miles to access clean water. We appreciate any size donation you can spare for this cause.
