Dr. Dan and Charlotte Paulsen currently serve as international Fieldworkers with CVM. The Lord used Christian Veterinary Fellowship (CVF) during veterinary school, then short-term mission trips to capture their hearts for Romania. How?
As a young married couple, they started their own mixed practice and were active in church ministries while still working on the family farm. But a downturn in farm commodity prices led Dan to finish his PhD in pathology. During the 33 years Dan spent as a professor and mentor for students in CVF, he and Charlotte began taking church teams on short-term mission trips to Romania, helping establish two sanctuary homes for abused girls. They also began building relationships within the Romanian Christian Veterinary Association. But God wasn’t done.
Dan said, “Here I was fretting over my retirement account, and the Lord spoke to me in an overwhelming voice that I should not worry, I was to be a missionary.” God confirmed that they should go with CVM to Romania where Dan expects to teach on pathology— “repurposed” for His Kingdom!
The Paulsens, along with a Christian brother, Ciprian, are also engaged in the “sweet corn evangelism” project. Because Romanians are used to eating tough field corn, American sweet corn is quite a special treat. Growing and selling the sweet corn allows an opportunity to share the Gospel with customers. Ciprian also sets up a cooking pot in the villages and people flock to eat corn—and get the Gospel. In addition, the project has provided for several Christian children’s camps in Romania, and for a large refugee camp in the Ukraine. Imagine 600 kids saying the Lord’s Prayer together and eating sweet corn!
“God has used my farming abilities, my veterinary abilities, and my teaching abilities for His glory. What a wild and wonderful life!”
The Paulsens have noticed many opportunities to serve in Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria. Would you pray about answering the call, as they have?
Thank you for being a part of the ministry of CVM through your financial support!
