Are you a small animal veterinarian, student or technician who would like to go on a mission trip, but feel a bit rusty in your large animal and ministry skills? Do you have a colleague who fits this description?
Announcing F.A.R.M, Farm Animal Refresher for Missions
Dr. Mary McDonald, who served in Bolivia, South America and Uganda, with Christian Veterinary Mission teaching rural animal health care workshops, is offering trainings in farm animal skills.
Courses include safe handling, restraint, vaccinating, de-worming, and basic animal husbandry of poultry, horses, goats, swine, and cattle. The animals often encountered in rural areas on short term mission trips.
The course also incorporates cross-cultural training, how to share your faith, and how to write your testimony. Also covered is how to design and teach animal health care courses in developing countries. The trainings go from Thursday afternoon until Sunday morning. They are held on our farm in Catawba, Virginia (30 minutes from VA Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and 30 minutes from the Roanoke, Virginia airport).
