Patrick Lai is a slave of Jesus. He has worked in SE Asia for 35 years; 10 years as a regular missionary and the past 25 years he has started 14 small businesses in 4 countries, 6 of which are still operating. The Lord enabled his team to win nearly 80 Muslims to Himself and gather 4 groups of Muslim believers.
Patrick is the author of Tentmaking – The Life and Work of Business as Missions and Business for Transformation – Getting Started. Patrick’s degrees are in business marketing, University of Oregon; MDIV, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Chicago; Doctorate of Missiology (Topic: Problems and Solutions for Enhancing the Productivity of Tentmakers/BAMers Doing Church Planting in the 10/40 Window”), Asian Graduate School of Theology, Manila.
Patrick founded the OPEN Network to coordinate services and equip both field workers and their churches for reaching the least reached peoples overseas via business.
Currently Patrick and May mentor and coach businesspeople working where there are few or no Christians. They have a son and daughter-in-law serving the Lord in Denver as a banker and a lawyer, and another son running an app development business in south Asia.
