Dr. Jon Kendall is an SA vet and is looking for an LA vet to join him in Nicaragua in October! Join Dr. Kendall as he travels with a medical team of doctors and nurses to an impoverished part of Managua. As DVMs you will assist the medical team in setup at a local hospital and then travel up to El Porvenir in the rural mountains to do vet work for 4 days. At the end of the week the medical team will join you in El Porvenir to help pack up, and the team will travel back to Managua together. The last day is spent relaxing/ doing tourist activities before flying out of MGA.

Notes: Spanish language skills are a bonus, but the team will have an interpreter with them.

Local Partner: This team is sponsored by a church out of Alaska but made up of people from all over. The local partner worked with in Managua is the Jubilee House Community-Center for Development in Central America (JHC-CDCA).

Vet Work: LA work on farm animals and horses. Basic animal care—vaccinations, deworming, possible castrations of livestock.

Ministry Work: Showing Christ’s love through your actions and relationships.

Number needed: 1 LA DVM, possibility of a spouse or family member to join if able and willing to assist in vet work. Children not allowed on this trip at this time.

Cost: $1,830 (not including airfare to/from Managua)

Additional Info: Vet work will be done in a mountainous, rustic area with no electricity—team sleeps on cots on the back porch in an old hacienda with a beautiful view. Accommodations in Managua are bunk-house style.
