Democratic Republic of the Congo

Travel with CVM to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to partner with local CVM field workers! Local ministers will partner with us in praying and ministering to the community members as they wait for veterinary care. 

Host partner: LaOlam Ministry & UEMI (EbenEzer University)

Dates: October 7 - October 21, 2023 (dates may be extended by a day or two if transportation out of DRC is not on time those days)

Vet Work: Survey/Evaluation, Teach/Lecture, Vaccinate Rabbits/etc., Agriculture as it applies to cattle grazing and other local livestock (Cows, goats & chickens)

Ministry Work: Ministering to those who bring their animals, teaching the locals about animal care, encouraging the local workers, and anything else the Lord brings to do!

Cost: $2,150 (not including international airfare)

Needed: Vets and Vet Technicians; a small team of 2-4 (because of housing, all men or one couple recommended); Older children are allowed if coming with parents and as lodging can accommodate. The host has 5 children ages 18 mo - 8 years.

Additional Info: A COVID test is required when landing in the DRC if a vaccine card is not presented.

Currently, International travel is with Ethiopian Airlines, thru Goma, DRC.  However, that may need to be changed closer to departure to Bujumbura, Burundi because of regional security issues. It is recommend the flight ticket is purchased closer to departure and has a flexible change/cancellation policy.

The hosts are located on the Haute Plateau of Central/Eastern Congo in the rural/pastoral village region of Minembwe, Fizi Territory, Sud Kivu, DRC.

The journey to reach Minembwe is an adventure in itself which includes a flight from Bukavu, DRC to Minembwe on a small 14 passenger plane (roads are impassable).

Mild mountain climate (6,300ft elevation/2 degrees below the Equator) with average temperatures of 75°daily and 40°nightly year round.  Moist rainy climate October to June.  July, August and September are typically slightly colder & it is the dry season with minimal rain.

Lodging is provided in the hosts' home (missionaries) with property adjoining the UEMI campus. The hosts have one guest room with 2 sets of bunkbeds (4 beds).
