Dominican Republic
Join a team of eager Texas vet students in the Dominican Republic! Working with SCORE International, this team will be going into the local nearby communities offering vet services such as deworming, dog vaccines, and some spays and neuters. Bring your expertise and desire to mentor students as well as to pray and share with community members in the DR!
Dates: June 23 - July 1, 2023
Local Partner: Breath of Life International
Vet Work: Large animal medicine and nutrition education with basic animal husbandry consultation at farm visits and during organized producer meetings.
Ministry Work: Our primary work will consist of training the local church how to teach and reach children through VBS programs, evangelism, home visits, medical outreach, Veterinarian outreach, church leadership training, training Sunday school teachers, and reflective tape outreach. Evangelism and discipleship is done at each farm visit and during producer meetings.
Number Needed: 2-4 Vets only at this time
Event Cost: $1,830 (does not include airfare) - Price could be reduced if volunteers can stay with the hosts.
Additional Info: We will be joining forces with Breath of Life International college students and mentors and working alongside the local church in here will be 6 training/preparation sessions over Zoom before the trip (once a month beginning in January). https://www.breathoflifeinternational.org/upcoming-events/mission-trip-to-dominican-republic-2.
Each volunteer will need to bring an additional $30 in cash for the visa. Any souvenir cost is not included.
The team will work together to raise funds for ministry expenses and materials we will bring with us to carry out the work.
