We thank our Lord for the amazing gift of the life and example of Dr. Leroy Dorminy, Christian Veterinary Mission Founder and Director Emeritus. His passion, vision, and obedience launched a movement of God’s people serving through the profession of veterinary medicine to demonstrate the good news of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I was blessed to meet Dr. Dorminy at the AVMA meeting in New Orleans in 1984. Since that time, I have been honored to serve with him as together we advance God’s kingdom work through CVM. I have so many fond memories of his passion for Christ, determination, and hard work to see the vision God had given him realized through Christian Veterinary Mission.
A strategic partnership with CRISTA Ministries and World Concern launched his vision into short-term and long-term veterinary missions. Christian Veterinary Fellowship merged with CVM in the early 1990’s which led to developing student and professional ministry models. Since those early days, thousands have joined through prayer, financial support, encouragement, and service. Veterinarians around the world also heard of the movement of God’s Spirt and joined in what God is doing.
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!” – Matthew 25:21
Dr. Dorminy continued to challenge and encourage veterinary professionals to follow Christ and to join in His kingdom work until near the time of his passing. He served the Lord with such joy and passion, sharing Christ through talks, books, articles, and one on one with those God would bring to him.
We thank the Lord for the gift of Dr. Dorminy and pray that we might be faithful to his vision in the years to come.
