Theresa graduated from the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982 and entered active-duty service in the Air Force as a public health officer. The public health duties and responsibilities focused on communicable disease and zoonoses control in human populations. She was involved in HIV-AIDS testing, occupational health, anthrax and smallpox vaccination programs, and rabies and vector-borne disease prevention and control. In her last assignment, she directed the laboratory animal management for all Air Force research facilities and helped craft priorities for research in combat casualty care. Theresa deployed twice for humanitarian relief operations, served as the CEO for two human hospitals, and retired from the Air Force after a 27-year career. She presently works as the civilian director for Trainee Health Surveillance to assess, prevent or control communicable disease and preventable injuries in the Air Force recruit population.

Theresa was raised in a Christian home and was baptized at age 12. As an adult, she served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, sign language interpreter, choir member, and youth interpretative music instructor. She has been involved with CVM since the early 1990s.
Theresa has been married for 39 years (to the same man) and says he still puts up with her. She and Les have three grown children and three beautiful grandchildren.
